Manchester is one of our favourite cities to photograph weddings in for good reason. It is always absolutely buzzing with life, full of colour and party vibes and the architecture is just so cool. It is the became the ultimate backdrop a laid-back, city wedding day.
This day in particular kicked off with bride Rosie getting ready her parents' house, with her closest friends and family. You might think that getting married while pregnant might add some extra pressure but honestly walking into bridal prep there was such an air of calm! It wasn't until Rosie was in her dress, bouquet in hand and the gifts started coming out that the anticipation really started building wand a few shaky hands were spotted!
Meanwhile, Jack and his groomsmen were getting ready at the incredible Kimpton Clocktower Hotel. Instead of getting a cab they strolled through town, soaking up the rare Manchester sunshine and stopping off for a pint with their guests along the way.
The ceremony kicked off at the registry office in Manchester city centre. A fairly intimate ceremony that was filled with happy tears. Mostly from the groom...but almost deffinately from us too while we were hiding behind the cameras. Their happiness was genuinely just too infectious not to get swept up in the moment!
Then came the really fun part. We got to wander the streets of Manchester with the full wedding crew for the confetti shot and group portraits. There is something so exciting about a city centre confetti moment! Afterwards we sent the guests on their way to the reception and went for a stroll around some of R&J's favourite spots for portraits with them and the most important guest of all...Pippa the doggo!
From iconic Manchester landmarks like the library and the canals, to cool little pubs, every spot was the perfect backdrop and thats what we love about city weddings. There is something just so casually cool about a couple all dressed up against a background of brick walls and industrial scenery. And Pippa? Abcolutely the star of the show. Let's be real, you can't have a dog at a wedding and not expect them to become the main character!
Finally, we all landed at The Black Friar in Salford—a beautiful, cozy pub nestled amidst Manchester's towering skyscrapers. Think fairy lights, fire pits, prosecco flowing and lots of laughter during the speeches. The best men provided the biggest laughs of the day with photo evidence of the grooms best, most embarassing, and just generally hilarious moments. Unbeknown to them, they had printed the photos on sticker paper. So cue the whole evening becoming a game of who can stick the most photos of the groom to guests without them realising. Honestly some of the most fun we've seen people having at a wedding reception!
The night rounded off with an amazing set of indie and folk music by Tone Junkies and was a blur of dancing and laughter. Even pippa the dog got in on the action with Jack having a boogie with her on his shoulders. This was the perfect example of how to have a wedding that feels 100% authentic and stress free and doing things exactly the way you want!
