Katy & Ash - Horton Grange Wedding Photography

Just days before the UK went into lockdown this gorgeous pair of ladies got married. The week leading up to the wedding was a bit of an odd one to say the least! With rumours of lockdown being imminent, and then the closure of restaurants and entertainment venues the night before. We lost sleep worrying for them both…so imagine how they must have felt!

We arrived at Horton Grange tentatively the morning of the big day, with everyone still not really sure what was going on, but what ended up unfolding was a day absolutely brimming with love.

Katy & Ash both got ready at the venue, but didn’t see each other until the aisle! Ash had her lovely bridesmaid do her makeup and her bridal party all chipped in to get the dress on! When they got there, ready to make their vows, it was obviously that they REALLY wanted to get married. They had spent the week wondering if it was going to happen, and when it did…well there wasn’t a dry eye in the room (including ours!)

As guests moved into the reception room, Ash took a minute to explain to us that their seating plan was all arranged to tell the story of their relationship. The names of the places where they had their first date, first home and engagement decorated the tables. There were plenty of laughs at the speeches, and also plenty of tears as bride Katy spoke and read to her wife the words she had prepared.

As the sun started to settle, the drinks started to flow and the dancefloor was broken in by a gorgeous first dance as wife and wife, it was the perfect moment to stop and appreciate how much love and connection was present. Families united, friends up dancing and two very very happy brides.

This was likely the last day that many of the people in the room would see each other for a while, as full lockdown hit just a few days later, and so as we drove back to our own home in Yorkshire it felt as though we had really been a part of something wonderful.

This should have been the first wedding of a busy season for us...and now we are talking to couples about postponements and wondering what on earth to do with ourselves! But the important thing to remember, is that amidst all the big plans, the most important thing about a wedding day is the couple. Those two crazy in love people saying I do. And that doesn't change no matter time, date or place.

Thanks for the trust guys!
