Elizabeth & Jason - An autumnal wedding during Storm Babet - Beamish Hall Hotel wedding photography

Even Storm Babet couldn't stop Elizabeth and Jason from having the absolute best day on their wedding. When we arrived at Beamish Hall Hotel to see the couple getting ready there has already been a power cut, a last minute trek out with the full bridal party to start getting ready elsewhere and the rain was literally side ways. Gale force winds or not, there was no doubt that this pair were SO excited to get married, and what a day it ended up being…

Embracing the Storm

Some people would wake up to wild weather and be absolutely devastated. But while Storm Babet raged on, Elizabeth and Jason decided to make the most of their day. The couple, their families, and friends even braved the elements, venturing outdoors for the confetti toss. They must be truly loved by their guests because every single one of them laughed away in the rain while E&J ran through the confetti before everyone took cover inside.

We did decide that it probably wasn’t fair to make everyone stand in the rain for family photos - so we moved those into the beautiful ceremony room. Elizabeth and Jason on the other hand…they were more than up for a run around in the rain! So off we went to get soaking wet with Elizabeth almost losing her veil at one point! They danced, they laughed and span around in the rain before we ran for cover again for drinks and speeches.

The Perfect Sanctuary

It is fair to say that despite the frankly awful weather, Beamish Hall Hotel provided a gorgeous backdrop for the day. The venue's beautiful indoor spaces offered a cozy and picturesque setting which meant that not being able to go outside for most of the day didn’t feel so bad.

The venue is like an Alladins cave! From the outside it already looks fairly grand, but on the inside it was the gift that just kept giving from the bridal suite right through to the reception room, every little detail was so beautifully styled. We also should say a big thank you to the wonderful staff at Beamish Hall Hotel for looking after us so well during the day!

All of the little details had been so well thought out, and the cake...what a cake! Fun fact, the Mother of the Groom made this and actually has her own cake shop in Leicester. The couples lovely dog even made a surprise appearance on the cake with a cute little "they got wed" jumper on!

Dance, Dance

Now at this point is important to note that Elizabeth isn’t a total stranger to us. Emily actually met her many many moons ago at Dance School! Jason however, is not a dancer, and mentioned he was feeling a bit nervous about the first dance…so of course we had to let them have a little quiet practice during their portraits in front of the twinkly lights!

He needn’t have been nervous though…because the first dance was met with huge applause and everyone jumped at the chance to join them on the dance floor! An over enthusiastic twirl may or may not have resulted in a certain someone having to have their pants stitched up by the Mother of the Bride (we aren't naming names) but even that was met only with laughter...literally nothing could wipe the smiles of their faces!

A special mention to Elizabeth's dance history for meaning she really knew how to work that skirt for 10/10 swishy dance floor action!

Elizabeth and Jason's wedding day was a perfect illustration of the fact that, no matter what the weather or little things that may go wrong on the day, love really is the most important part of it. It's also a lovely reminder that the most beautiful moments are often those that aren't planned.

We loved photographing this joyful wedding day, and loved our first visit to Beamish Hall Hotel, so we hope it won't be our last! Thanks so much to Elizabeth and Jason for trusting us with their memories, you can scroll through a little peek at their gallery here...
