Susannah & James were another of our lovely couples that we managed to photograph in the wild year of 2020, and what a couple they are!
Firstly 10 cool points to any bride who greets you at the door holding a polaroid camera and wearing Lucy & Yak dungarees. Susannah was the ultimate chill bride, getting ready with just her sister and opting to do her own makeup, of which she did a cracking job.

Her hair was in the most incredible braid by Gillian Roslan-Oates giving all of the boho vibes and the dress...well...gorgeous. Also can we take a minute to fully appreciate the twin tubs in the room?

James wore a Racing Green suit and popped in a few times for polaroids and to check in on everyone before heading off with the men of the wedding party to collect the flowers and hang out with the guests as they arrived.

The couple chose not to stay separated on the morning, chilling out together for breakfast and popping in on each other throughout the morning, but James was kicked out when the dress was going on and he wasn't allowed to see the dress until the ceremony for full effect!

After a short and sweet ceremony in the beautiful setting of Oddfellows, Chester, it was time for photographs on the terrace. We were totally not expecting a cool, New York style roof terrace in Chester but with the sun out it was the perfect spot for everyone to hang out.

No city centre wedding is complete without a tour of the town, so out we headed with the newlyweds to explore Chester. Half way down the road we were collared by the lovely manager of The Townhouse Hotel who let us use their gorgeous "Secret Garden" for photographs which even had a pretty cool VW camper as a bar!

Having let slip that their first ever date was at a Piccolino restaurant 5 minutes away we obviously had to go for a walk by on their wedding day! We also managed to head along the riverside and through the beautiful gardens and cobbled streets...all of which Susannah kept her heels on for so thats pretty impressive in our books!

Because of the rules at the time the evening do was a bit different to usual with no first dance or entertainment. The meal was seated and speeches were held, the cake was cut, and what was lovely is that everyone was in such high spirits that nobody even really missed the entertainment instead favouring conversation & reminiscing.

Oh the cake. Absolute stunner of a naked cake which was fully constructed on site by very talented baker Laura's cakes and cupcakes. It deserves its own mention because just looking at it again is making my mouth water to be honest!

Another perfect example of a wedding with some compromise that was so so beautiful none the less. It was a bit smaller, and a bit shorter, but still full of everything that is really important. Plus I am assured that their sticky toffee pudding dessert made all the planning worthwhile!
