Lets be honest, 2020 was a bit of a rollercoaster, and blogging ended up sadly on the very long list of things that we had completely lost our energy for...but we are determined not to be beaten and so are revisiting the few beautiful weddings we were fortunate enough to be a part of last year...starting with Jess & Rob's beautiful Micro Wedding in York city centre.
Jess & Rob, like many couples last year, had originally for a bigger ceremony at a totally different venue, but when they faced the decision of whether to reschedule or go smaller, they decided to get hitched in a more intimate setting.

Of all the city centres to get married in, York is definitely a beautiful pick, and with the abundance of perfect spots nearby for portraits, when Jess got in touch to say they had moved to the registry office in York we were here for it!

The ceremony itself was short and sweet, with only a very limited amount of guests including their close family and their adorable son in attendance. Everyone was seated, safely distanced, there were masks worn by all but the couple...but honestly it didn't really matter...because the smile on Jess & Robs faces when they finally said I do made it all worth it.

Thanks to the magic of Zoom (what would we have done without video conferencing this past year?!) their other friends and family were watching the whole ceremony live online, and some even came to see the couple leaving to throw confetti and cheer.

Seeing as hanging out outside at the time was totally fine, a bunch of guests headed over to the York Museum Gardens for some photos, a catch up and general celebrations. It was almost like a really small festival vibe and with the sun out and everyone so relaxed, it was so much fun!

With their guests going ahead to a private, very yummy, dinner at Source, we hung back with the happy couple to grab some portraits and explore the gardens. Between an abundance of greenery, flowers, old buildings and ruins we were spoiled for choice and could have been there for hours was it not for the fact that Jess & Rob had a very nice dinner to get to!

After portraits we walked through the city centre to see the happy couple off to their meal. Important note, if you are planning to do this prepare for EVERYONE in the street to shout their congratulations, say how beautiful you look and just generally fawn over you. It's like being a celebrity for an hour. A little girl even told Jess she looked like a princess...which of course she absolutely did. You really couldn't help but smile.

For anyone planning a wedding at the moment who isn't sure about going ahead with less guests, or a smaller venue, this really was the perfect example of what a Micro Wedding can look like. Intimate, simple and full of love.

If you are interested in Micro Weddings we now have a dedicated package available and are more than happy to have a natter over a brew on zoom about it so just drop us a line!
